Beloved news anchor Bruce Johnson has passed away at 71, his wife Lori announced in a Facebook post on Sunday, April 3rd.
Bruce, who retired in December 2020, was known for working at the Washington-based television station WUSA9.
Those who had known and worked with him have paid touching tributes on social media and shared fond memories of the news anchor.
Beloved WUSA9 anchor Bruce Johnson has died, leaving behind his wife Lori, their three children and three grandchildren. He was 71 years old.
Lori said that he died in Delaware and asked people for privacy during this difficult time for their family.
In April 2018, Bruce revealed that he had been diagnosed with cancer and stepped away from the anchor desk to undergo treatment at the time.
Washington Mayor Muriel Bowser paid a touching tribute to Bruce on Twitter, writing: “Bruce Johnson was a giant of DC journalism, a father, grandfather, husband, & proud author.
